Thomas Dutton, director of Miami University's Center for Community Engagement in Over-The-Rhine in Cincinnati, has worked with community leaders, and the Over-The-Rhine People's Movement since 1981--promoting human rights and social justice through architecture..

Dutton's Design/Build Studio donates design and construction skills to renovate historic housing stock in the Over-The-Rhine community.

Home to approximately 30,000 people in 1950, the neighborhood suffers severe population decline, homelessness, segregation, building abandonment, high unemployment and lack of access to political power.

2002 Census data show a current population of about 7600 residents.

Dutton creates residences that will honor the future occupants. The positive effects of a well designed living space should be available to everyone.
