About Us

Founded at Transylvania University in August of 1919, the Theta Chapter of Phi Kappa Tau is the eighth oldest chapter of the fraternity while also home to the oldest circulating Charter of all Phi Kappa Tau chapters. Theta Chapter is recognized for its consistency in strong academics, athletic superiority, and Smallwell-rounded temperament. The men of Theta Chapter seek to differentiatethemselves through their dedication to the total man concept of Phi Kappa Tau.

Members of this fraternity are held to high academic standards and character. The men of Phi Kappa Tau are active in many campus organizations, including campus radio, Student Government Association, Admissions Assistants, academic honoraries, various athletic teams, Student Alumni Association, campus Christian groups, among others. Theta Chapter was also intramural champions for five years in a row (1997-2002) and then again in 2004.

We, the brothers of the Theta Chapter of Phi Kappa Tau, seeking to state clearly our objectives and reasons for existence, proclaim the following as our guiding principles.

Commitment to Survival and Growth

We respect the individual rights and dignity of all people. We Benrealize the value of diversity. To ensure our longevity, we seek outstanding young men as members. We hope to enrich their collegiate experiences by refining their skills as scholars, leaders and social beings. We hope to orient them to the necessity of teamwork and the strength of unity. We believe our individual and collective actions and talents create this environment.

 

Responsible Citizenship

We strive to distinguish ourselves as an outstanding member of the Lexington and Transylvania community as well as the Phi Kappa Tau national fraternity. We will achieve this through responsible behavior and a dedication to service for our community.

Integrity

We place an utmost emphasis on the necessity for ethical conduct, mutual trust, and cooperation among our members.

Leadership

We believe that leadership provides brothers with a shared sense of goals and a united commitment to excellence. EnlightenedSmall leadership also harnesses the unique talents of every individual.
