Scholarship

Phi Kappa Tau prides itself for its high academic standards set for its  members.  Undergraduate Members are required to maintain above a select minimum grade point average to keep their status as active members in this fraternity.  Additionally, the Phi Kappa Tau National Scholarship Foundation allots funds to be distributed to members to aid their academic exploration.  Nationals state that scholarship recipients are carefully chosen based upon their academic success, commitment to the ideals of Phi Kappa Tau and service to their campus, community, and fraternity. Scholarships are provided for both undergraduate and graduate studies.

A annual endowment from alumni of Theta awards three members the Monroe Moosenick Scholarship, part of the Moosnick Prize. The scholarship, named for a renowned biologist and alumnus of the Theta Chapter, is given to three applicants who have excelled both academically and fraternally.  Applications for the awards are due May 1st, annually. All members, both active and associate, of Theta are encouraged to apply. Awards will be reviewed by the Theta chapter scholarship committee on the basis of academic achievement, fraternal involvement, need, and recommendation.

Monroe Moosnick Scholarship

Paul A. Elfers Omega Scholarship

Six $2,250 scholarships awarded through the generosity of Paul Elfers, a charter member of Omega Chapter at the University of Wisconsin. Mr. Elfers created this endowed scholarship in 1981 and added to it through his estate. One of the six awards is reserved for an outstanding chapter treasurer. Due April 1.

Foundation Scholarship Application

Nine $1,000 scholarships are awarded. Applicants must be an initiated member who will be returning to school the next year as an undergraduate or graduate student. These scholarships are made possible by the generosity of a number of men who have endowed the program over the years. Due April 1.
